The classes currently available are those offered by the City of London (Ontario) in the SPECTRUM INTERACTIVE program.

Distribution of the Spring/Summer Spectrum program catalogue took place the week of February 18, 2008. Copies of the catalogue are also available (while supplies last) at indoor pools, double pad arenas, community centres, public libraries and City Hall. Registration for Spring/Summer programs began Monday, February 25, 2008.

 

Ashtanga Yoga 
This is a challenging vinyasa (flow) a unique linking of one asana (pose) to the next in a serpentine flow. It orchestrates balance of body and mind. A balance of strength and flexibility, lightness and powerfulness, movement and stillness. Learn Ujjayi Breath, Locks, Flow, Drishti (Gazing) and meditation. This program is not for the beginner. Bring a yoga mat, belt and blanket. For serious Hatha Yoga Practitioners.

Babaji's Kriya Hatha Yoga
Yoga of action with awareness! Utilize breathing techniques, mudras, muscular locks & postures to bring about greater health, relaxation and energy. Meditation to help cleanse the subconscious to master the mind and bring about Absolute Reality & Self-realization. Emphasis is on the energetic & relaxation effects which assist in purifying the physical & subtle bodies - awakening oneself into higher states of consciousness making yoga practice deeply meditative!

Gentle Yoga for Older Adults
 Basic, gentle stretching, relaxing and balance poses are taught to assist in revitalizing the muscles of the body. Relieve tension by using proper breathing techniques. Most of this class is done on chairs, so people with mobility issues are welcome.

Kriya Hatha Yoga - Older Adult
This is for the serious, seasoned yogi who has been taking yoga classes for 5 plus continuous years and want to take their daily practice into a deeper level! You also are well-versed in the modification of poses. We will explore new postures in a vinyasa (flow) utilizing the chakras as well as breath regulation. Meditation of 5 minutes will be explored instead of relaxation.

Mom & Baby Yoga
Have a great one to one experience with your infant in a full hour of breathing, flexibility and relaxation. This gives you a chance to spend quality time with your little one. (Babies must be 3 months to 9 months of age.) Price includes one adult and one baby.

Specialty Yoga
This yoga program is for people who have Arthritis, or any other specific needs. We bring the Basics of Yoga to help you learn to regulate pain, increase mobility of the body and ward off stress. We begin together with yoga breathing, neck tilts and eye exercises. Each student will learn individualized postures to practise for their specific needs utilizing chairs, bolsters, ties. The class ends with a 15 minute relaxation with the option of being on chairs or on the floor. This Yoga is modified and adapted to suit the specific needs of everyone! Bring a blanket, cushion and exercise mat.

This beginner level yoga class for parent/caregivers and children will focus on breathing, posture, stength, empowerment, stretching and relaxation. Both adult and child register and participate in this program.

55+ - Cardiowalkers

Walking has been proven to increase your ENERGY LEVEL & HEART RATE. We will start with a 5 minute warm up and then walk briskly for 35 minutes to upbeat music. Wear supportive running shoes. We will end with a 5 minute cool down and 10 minutes of stretching. You may use light hand weights as well as bringing your own pedometer which measures the steps you have taken.

55+ Dynamic Fitness for Young at Heart

This is a dynamic, fun exercise program consisting of 25-30 minutes of intense Cardio, Muscle Conditioning, Balance and Stretch. The exercises are choreographed to Big Band, Classical and other great music. Bring your energy, enthusiasm and imagination. Mats, weights, and resistant bands are provided at the centre.

55+ Gentlefit

A fun-filled exercise program utilizing chairs. Includes a 10 minute cardio (sitting or standing), as well as stretching and strengthening of the muscles. The exercises are done to uplifting, inspiring music. Course costs vary depending on number of days and session attended.

A higher intensity uplifting exercise program which includes cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and stretching. The exercises are done to great inspiring music.

55+ Keep Fit for Bones

This is a gentle and fun class especially good for those who have osteoporosis. Hand weights are used to build muscle strength. We also work on balance, flexibility and stamina. Upbeat and inspiring music is used...guaranteed to make you stronger and make you smile. Please bring your own hand weights. Do it for fun and do it to KEEP FIT! This is a low but intense workout.

55+ Shape Up With Weights

Tone, strengthen and sculpt your body using weights and resistance bands in order to carry your frame better! Focus is on building core strength and on conditioning arms, back, legs, buttocks, and thighs. Bring 1, 2, or 3 lb. weights, resistance band and exercise mat. Course costs vary depending on number of days and session attended.

This fitness program while sitting in a chair. It is great for anyone who has limited mobility, arthritis or MS (wheelchair and walkers welcome) and allows you to move through your range of motion.

55+ Strengthen Your Core - Older Adults

This is a system of exercise that allows you to take control of your mind and body. It uses smooth flowing movements that tone and stretch your body, increase strength and flexibility in your muscles and joints. It also works to strengthen 'the core', lengthen the spine, build muscle tone and increase body awareness.
